Getting startedSymbol search
Symbol search
Find symbols, filter by category, sort, save favorites, build ratios or spreads from two symbols, and open any chart at the interval you want through the super search.
Use the symbol search to change the symbol on the chart. For each result it shows the price, change and a one-week sparkline, and to the right of that key metrics and the exchanges where the symbol trades.
Open the search
- Click the Symbol button at the top left of the top bar.
- CtrlSpace (Mac: CmdSpace).
- In the super search (CtrlK), type a name and choose Search symbol: “…”.
Charts through the super search
You can also reach any chart through the super search, from any page: through the search field at the top of the header (outside the terminal, / puts the cursor in it; on a phone you tap the magnifying glass) or with CtrlK (Mac: CmdK), which opens the command search in the terminal. It knows the same symbols as the symbol search: crypto, stocks and ETFs, indices, interest rates, currencies and commodities.
- Type a ticker or name, for example
nvidia,NVDA,apple,gold,eurusd,us10yorbitcoin. The charts are listed under CHARTS, in the terminal's command search under SYMBOLS. An exact ticker or name comes first, then matches at the start of a word, with large and well-known names first. - Next to each chart are the intervals:
1m5m15m1h4h1d1w. Series that only exist as daily candles (such as BTC.D or TOTAL) show1d1w1M. - A click on an interval opens the chart at that interval. A click on the row itself opens it at the interval you currently have set.
- With the keyboard: ↑ ↓ select the row, → and ← at the end of the search text choose an interval, Enter opens.
It's faster if you type the interval right along with it, before or after: nvidia 4h, btc 1d or 1w gold. The interval is then already chosen, and Enter opens the chart at it. Lower-case m stands for minutes, upper-case M for months; 1D, 4H and 1W also work in upper case.
If you're already in the terminal, the chart changes in place, and your indicators and widgets stay. On a phone, 1m and 5m are missing from the row, but they still work when typed (btc 1m).
For ratios and spreads, sorting and the key metrics in the details panel, Search in the terminal: “…” (in the terminal Search symbol: “…”) at the end of the results takes you to the symbol search.
Search and open
- Type a ticker or name, for example
solorGold. The first result is selected right away. - Use ↑ and ↓ to move through the list, Enter opens the selected symbol.
- A click on a row opens the symbol directly. If you move the mouse over a row, the details panel on the right shows its key metrics.
- Esc closes the search.
Each row shows the logo, ticker, name, a sparkline of the last seven days, the price and the 24-hour change. The category follows the name.
At the bottom of the list are the scope (for example “All markets”) and the number of results.
Categories
The tabs above the list filter:
| Tab | Contents |
|---|---|
| ☆ | your favorites |
| All | everything; with no search text, in groups of three symbols with “Show all …” |
| Crypto | cryptocurrencies such as BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, HYPE and many more |
| Stocks | around 5,400 stocks and ETFs: the entire S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, DAX, MDAX, SDAX and TecDAX, all major US companies and the most-traded US stocks, the largest companies in Europe, Asia, Canada and Latin America, China's largest companies, the most popular ETFs, plus themes such as Bitcoin companies, defense or space |
| Macro | interest rates, indices and series such as DXY, US10Y, VIX, BTC.D or TOTAL |
| Forex | currency pairs such as EURUSD, GBPUSD or USDJPY |
| Commodities | gold, silver, oil, natural gas, copper, agricultural commodities such as wheat, corn, coffee and cocoa, plus livestock and lumber |
| Pre-IPO | over 60 companies before their IPO such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Anduril, Stripe, Databricks, Revolut, Polymarket, Kalshi or Helsing, the most valuable first |
Filter stocks
Below the Stocks tab is a second row:
- Country: The menu names the countries the companies come from, with the number of their stocks, largest first.
- Groups: S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, DAX, MDAX, SDAX, TecDAX, China, Bitcoin & mining, Meme & trend, Cannabis, Medicine, AI & chips, Software, Defense, Space, Brands & retail, Chemicals, Oil & gas, Middle East, ETFs and Leverage & short (leveraged and short ETFs such as TQQQ with triple and QLD with double Nasdaq-100, SQQQ, SOXL or Amundi LQQ). A click shows only this group, a second click clears the filter. A stock can be in several groups, NVIDIA for example in the S&P 500, the Nasdaq-100 and under AI & chips.
Country and group can be combined, such as defense from Germany. The bottom left shows what's currently filtered (“Stocks · Defense”).
For stocks, the list shows the last close and the change from the close before it; the stock's chart shows the current price. The long list keeps building as you scroll.
Pre-IPO
Pre-IPO lists companies that aren't yet on the stock market. If you type “Private Equity”, “Pre-IPO” or “Vor dem Börsengang” in the search, they all appear, in the super search too. Instead of a price, the list shows their valuation (“$965B · Valuation”), and the details panel the valuation with the step from the previous round, the capital raised, revenue, the ratio of valuation to revenue, employees and where the IPO stands. The chart shows the valuation in billions of US dollars as daily candles and longer, from the first funding round to today; the money raised in a round is shown as volume below it. The Pre-IPO widgets open next to it.
When a company goes public, the chart, list and details panel automatically show the stock under its name, and a watchlist or layout that contains it switches along. Shein, for example, has been listed under stocks as 0625.HK since its IPO in Hong Kong.
Some stocks carry a .US after the ticker, such as CL.US for Colgate-Palmolive: their ticker is already taken in the terminal, here by WTI crude oil (CL). Stocks listed outside the US carry the code of their exchange, such as RHM.DE (Xetra), 0700.HK (Hong Kong), EMAAR.AE (Dubai) or 2222.SR (Saudi Arabia).
Sort
On the right above the list, you choose under SORT BY:
- Relevance (default)
- Top gainers and Top losers by 24h change
- 24h volume
- Highest funding, crypto only
For volume and funding, the value appears right in the row.
The details panel
On the right, the search shows the selected symbol's name, rank, price and the change over one week (1W). Below that are key metrics, depending on the kind of symbol:
- Crypto, Spot tab: market cap, volume (24h), vol./mcap, FDV, total supply, max supply, circulating supply and share in circulation, plus links to the website and explorer.
- Crypto, Derivatives tab: open interest, funding (8h), long/short, liquidations (24h) and OI / mcap.
- Stocks and ETFs: market cap, P/E, EPS, dividend yield, beta, 52-week low and high, avg. volume and the next earnings date.
- Macro, forex and commodities: day range, 52-week low and high, change over one month and year to date, volatility (30 days), exchange and trading hours.
If data is missing, the panel says so instead of showing placeholders.
Venues: At the very bottom, the search lists where the symbol trades, with exchange and market (spot, perp, future…). A click on an exchange opens the symbol right there: the chart then shows only this exchange and this market. To go back to combining several exchanges, use the exchange aggregation.
Favorites
- Select a symbol in the list.
- Click the star ☆ in the details panel. It becomes ★.
- The ☆ tab now shows all favorites.
By default, BTC, ETH and SPY are in your favorites. Your favorites are saved with your settings and, when you're signed in, in your account as well.
Ratios and spreads
You can build a chart symbol of your own from two symbols:
- Ratio: connect two tickers with
/, for exampleETH/BTC. The chart shows the price of the first divided by that of the second. - Spread: connect two tickers with
-, for exampleBTC-ETH. The chart shows the difference.
Type the combination in the search and press Enter. Without search text, Ratio & spread lists suggestions such as ETH/BTC, SOL/ETH and BTC-ETH. If the search finds nothing, it reminds you of this notation.
What to know about ratios and spreads:
- Both legs are calculated candle by candle. That's why the legend shows CALCULATED, and the top bar “Calculated” instead of an exchange aggregation.
- There are no seconds intervals and no order flow (order book, tape, liquidations) for a ratio.
- Intervals shorter than a day are only available if both symbols have them.
- In the search list, ratio and spread rows don't show a 24h change yet.
Compare symbol
The + button next to the symbol button opens the same search for comparing (“Search for a symbol to compare”). The chosen symbol is then not opened but overlaid on the chart as a line. How exactly this works is explained in Compare and multi-chart.
Good to know
- A symbol without the chosen interval switches to daily candles. Series such as BTC.D, USDT.D, TOTAL or the US yields US02Y and US30Y are only available as daily candles.
