Classic indicators
Volume, averages, RSI, MACD, Bollinger, VWAP, oscillators, channels, pattern recognition, and Smart Money Concepts with their settings.
These indicators are calculated only from the price and volume of the candles on your chart. That's why they work for every symbol, whether crypto, stock, or index, and on every interval. You'll find them under Top bar → Indicators → Indicators.
All pane indicators have the Study colors toggle and a Color in the Style tab, see settings dialog. The tables below therefore list only the remaining settings.
The basic tools
These entries are at the very top of the category.
Volume
Traded volume per candle as bars along the bottom of the main chart. Turquoise bars belong to rising candles, red ones to falling candles. In the legend it is called “Vol”, followed by the value at the crosshair with its unit.
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Height (% of chart) | 14 | 4 to 40 |
| Moving average | off | shows a 20-period average of the volume |
| Buy color, Sell color | Turquoise, Red | |
| Opacity (%) | 22 | 5 to 100 |
In the Layers panel, volume sits directly under the symbol and can be toggled there with the eye.
Simple Moving Average (SMA) and Exponential Moving Average (EMA)
The SMA is the simple mean of closing prices over the set length; the EMA weights recent prices more heavily and therefore reacts faster. If the price is above the average, the trend over that length points up. Crossovers of two averages (such as 50 and 200) are considered a trend change signal.
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 20 | 1 to 500 |
| Timeframe | Same as chart | 15m, 30m, 1H, 2H, 4H, 6H, 8H, 12H, 1D, 3D, 1W, 1M |
| Show main line | on | off: only the lines from “Daily & weekly” and “Custom” |
| Include current candle | off | |
| Color | Gray (SMA), Orange (EMA) | |
| Line width | 1.4 | 0.6 to 4 |
#### Averages on other timeframes
With Timeframe, the line is calculated on the candles of another interval instead of the chart's. An SMA 200 on 1D is the 200-day average, whether you're looking at the 15-minute, 4-hour, or weekly chart. On a finer chart, the line runs smoothly: each value sits where its timeframe candle closes, and a straight line connects the two values in between, rather than standing still until the next close. The last stretch leads to the value of the still-open candle and moves with the price. SMA 200 · 1D, SMA 200 · 1W, the Bull Market Support Band, and the daily RSI of the MTF RSI run the same way. Same as chart calculates on the candles you see, as before.
Include current candle adds the timeframe's still-open candle to the average at every chart candle, using that chart candle's close, so the line shows at each point what the average would have read at that moment. Off (the default), it connects the values of the completed candles as described above.
In the Daily & weekly tab, you add the well-known levels with one click, each with its own color:
| Line | Default color |
|---|---|
| 20D, 50D, 100D, 200D | Yellow, Orange, Blue, Red |
| 20W, 50W, 100W, 200W | Turquoise, Green, Violet, Brown |
| Golden & Death Cross | a green ring where the 50D crosses above the 200D, a red one where it crosses below |
The Custom tab has four more lines, each with its own timeframe, length, and color, for example a 200 on 4H or a 12 on 1M. With the EMA, all lines are calculated exponentially; with the SMA, as a simple average. All extra lines are off by default, so an SMA you already have on the chart draws exactly as before.
Relative Strength Index (RSI)
Momentum oscillator between 0 and 100, after Wilder. Above the upper threshold the market is considered overbought, below the lower one oversold. These ranges are highlighted in the pane, and the curve changes color there. The 50 line separates upward from downward momentum.
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| RSI length | 14 | 2 to 50 |
| Overbought level (Thresholds tab) | 70 | 50 to 100 |
| Oversold level (Thresholds tab) | 30 | 0 to 50 |
Bollinger Bands
A moving average with two bands set a number of standard deviations away. Narrow bands show quiet phases, which are often followed by a larger move. Prices at the outer band have moved far relative to recent volatility.
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 20 | 2 to 200 |
| Standard deviations | 2 | 0.5 to 10 |
MACD
The difference between two EMAs (MACD line), its smoothing (signal line), and the distance between them as a histogram. When the MACD line crosses above the signal line, momentum turns up. The histogram has its own scaling so that it stays readable next to the lines.
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Fast EMA | 12 | 2 to 50 |
| Slow EMA | 26 | 2 to 100 |
| Signal smoothing | 9 | 2 to 50 |
VWAP
The volume-weighted average price, calculated on the typical price (high, low, close) and restarted at the beginning of each session. Above the VWAP, the session's buyers are in profit on average; below it, at a loss.
| Setting | Default | Options |
|---|---|---|
| Anchor | Automatic (by bar width) | Automatic, Day, Week, Month, Year |
“Automatic” restarts daily for candles up to 15 minutes, weekly up to 4 hours, monthly above that up to less than a week, and yearly from weekly candles on. That way, a session always spans a few dozen candles. With a fixed anchor, you can see the weekly VWAP on the hourly chart, for example. The boundaries are in UTC, and the week starts on Monday.
On-Balance Volume (OBV)
Cumulative volume: candles with a rising close add their volume, falling ones subtract it. If the OBV rises while the price moves sideways, capital is flowing into the asset. What counts is the direction of the curve, not its height. No settings other than style.
Anchored VWAP
A VWAP that starts not at a session but at a candle of your choice, such as a notable high, low, or news event. It shows the average price of everyone who has bought since that point. Optional bands set at standard deviations show how far the price has moved from it.
How to set an anchor:
- Add Anchored VWAP in the menu. The terminal switches to selection mode and shows “Click a candle to anchor the VWAP”.
- Click the candle where the VWAP should begin. Clicking in a pane or on an axis cancels selection mode; dragging moves the chart as usual.
- To set more anchors, use Right-click the chart → Anchored VWAP from here. Each anchor gets its own line.
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Anchor | “Set new” starts selection mode and closes the dialog; “Remove all” deletes all anchors. The number shows how many are set. |
| Band ±1σ, Band ±2σ | on |
| Band ±3σ | off |
| Line color (Style tab) | Cream |
Pattern recognition
Marks classic candlestick patterns (engulfing, hammer, stars, soldiers) as well as double tops and double bottoms directly on the price. A pattern is a hint of a possible reversal, not a signal in itself. It says the most at a spot you're watching anyway, such as a support.
| Setting | Default |
|---|---|
| Candle patterns | on |
| Double top / double bottom | on |
| Label (Display tab) | Short (also Long or Off) |
Smart Money Concepts
Draws the market structure: swing highs and lows with HH, HL, LH, and LL, structure breaks (BOS, Break of Structure) and direction changes (CHoCH, Change of Character), plus order blocks, fair value gaps, and optionally the premium and discount zones of the current range.
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Swing length | 5 | 2 to 20 candles per side. Larger means fewer but more significant swings. A swing is only confirmed once that many candles have closed after it. |
| Structure (BOS / CHoCH) | on | |
| Swing labels (HH, HL, LH, LL) | on | |
| Order blocks (Zones tab) | on | |
| Fair value gaps (Zones tab) | on | |
| Premium / discount (Zones tab) | off |
Oscillators
All oscillators open their own pane below the chart.
| Indicator | What it shows | How to read it | Settings (default) |
|---|---|---|---|
| MTF RSI | RSI with the fixed colors of the mantacharts timeframes | On 1h, 4h, 1D, 4D, and 1W, the pane shows the RSI of that timeframe; on the remaining intervals under one day, the daily RSI. On a 15-minute chart, that shows you where the day stands. | RSI length 14, Overbought level 70, Oversold level 30 |
| Stochastic | Position of the close within the range of recent candles, with %K and %D | Above 80 overbought, below 20 oversold. When %K crosses the %D line, short-term momentum turns. | %K length 14, %K smoothing 3, %D smoothing 3 |
| Stoch RSI | the stochastic applied to the RSI | reacts faster than the RSI, thresholds 20 and 80 | RSI length 14, Stochastic length 14, %K smoothing 3, %D smoothing 3 |
| CCI 20 | Distance from the moving mean in units of mean deviation | Above +100 unusually strong, below −100 unusually weak | CCI length 20 |
| Williams %R | Close relative to the range of recent candles, from −100 to 0 | Above −20 overbought, below −80 oversold | Length 14 |
| Momentum (ROC) | percentage change over a fixed number of candles, as columns | Above zero rising, below falling. Shrinking columns show a fading pace. | Length 12 |
| ATR 14 | average range per candle in the symbol's price | High means large candles. Useful for stop distances and position sizes. | ATR length 14 |
| ADX 14 | Trend strength with +DI and −DI | Above 25 a trend is running; below that, the market has no direction. +DI above −DI means an uptrend. | DI length 14, ADX smoothing 14 |
| MFI 14 | Money Flow Index, an RSI that also weighs volume | Above 80 overbought, below 20 oversold | MFI length 14 |
Moving averages
Preconfigured averages so you can put several on the chart at once: EMA 9, EMA 20, EMA 50, EMA 100, EMA 200, SMA 20, SMA 50, SMA 100, SMA 200, and WMA 20, WMA 50 (weighted average, linear toward the latest candle). Each has a single setting, Length (1 to 500). The name in the menu states the default.
Cycle levels
These three lines are always calculated on a daily or weekly basis, no matter which interval your chart shows.
| Indicator | What it shows | How to read it |
|---|---|---|
| SMA 200 · 1D | the 200-day average | the best-known trend line: bull territory above it, bear territory below |
| SMA 200 · 1W | the 200-week average | in Bitcoin's history, the zone of cycle lows |
| Bull Market Support Band | 20-week SMA and 21-week EMA, with the space between them shaded | In a bull market, the band holds as support; a close below it is considered a warning sign. |
Bands and channels
| Indicator | What it shows | Settings (default) |
|---|---|---|
| Keltner 20 · 2 ATR | an EMA with bands set a multiple of the ATR away. Breakouts from the channel show unusually strong moves. | EMA length 20, ATR length 10, ATR factor 2 |
| Donchian 20 | highest high and lowest low of the period. A new high above the channel is a breakout in the classic trend-following sense. | Length 20 |
| Supertrend 10 · 3 | a trend line at ATR distance that runs below the price in an uptrend and above it in a downtrend. When it switches sides, the trend turns. | ATR length 10, Factor 3 |
