Order flow indicators

Order book heatmap, order book top levels, trade bubbles, CVD, volume delta, order book depth, footprint, TPO, volume profiles, liquidation heatmap, and the Hyperliquid map in the indicators menu.

Order flow indicators show what is happening behind a candle: who is buying or selling aggressively, where liquidity is waiting in the order book, and at which price levels trading took place. You'll find them under Top bar → Indicators → Order flow.

They are available only for crypto symbols. For stocks or indices, they appear in the menu with “no data”, for example with the note “AAPL has no order book data.”

Open interest, funding rate, and liquidations are also in this category. They have their own page: Open interest, funding, and liquidations.

This page gives you an overview of each entry in the menu. The Order flow section describes them in full detail.

Order book heatmap (Plus)

The liquidity in the order book per price level over time. Bright bands are prices where many orders are waiting. If a band is traded through, it disappears because the orders leave the book. To the right of the last candle, the heatmap continues the strong levels of the current book.

  • Turning it on and off: in the menu, with AltM, or in the Layers panel.
  • Settings: The heatmap has its own settings area with source, currency (USD or Coin), resolution (HD or 4K), appearance, style, magnifier and cross-section, the wall filter, all color schemes, and the color scale. You open it with the gear in the legend or in the Layers panel.
  • Wall filter: By default, the heatmap shows only the walls that stand out from the book, on a dark background. At 0%, it shows the whole book.

Everything about settings and the magnifier: Order book heatmap.

Order book top levels (Plus)

The largest buy and sell walls in the current order book as lines across the chart, thicker and brighter the larger they are, with their amount at the right edge. A line starts where the wall entered the list. History shows walls from this session that are gone: dashed with × means pulled before the price reached them (often spoofing), with a dot means traded at the price.

Everything about the settings: Order book top levels.

Trade bubbles

Large market orders as circles at the price, sized by volume. Turquoise is buys, red is sells. That way, you can see where large participants have entered the market aggressively.

Cumulative volume delta (CVD)

The running total of aggressive buys minus aggressive sells. If the CVD rises with the price, buyers are carrying the move. If the price rises while the CVD falls, traders are selling into the move, a divergence that often comes before a reversal.

Volume delta

The same delta per candle instead of as a running total: columns pointing up show candles with more aggressive buys, columns pointing down more sells. Good for finding individual candles with unusual pressure. Settings: Source as for the CVD, colors for buy and sell.

More on both: CVD and volume delta.

Order book depth (±5%)

How many dollars per candle sit in the order books within ±5% of the mid price: bids below the price as columns above the zero line, asks above the price as columns below it, and the net as a fine line. Shows which side the liquidity is on and how it shifts before the price follows.

Footprint (Pro)

Buy and sell volume per price level within each candle. You can see at which price within the candle trading took place and which side dominated there.

  • Zooming in: The numbers need room. If the chart is zoomed out too far, the terminal shows “Footprint: zoom in with the mouse wheel”.
  • Incomplete candles: A candle for which not all trades are available is drawn paler, without POC and imbalances.
  • The footprint is also available as a chart type. Its settings are then also in the settings dialog.

TPO / Market Profile (Pro)

Time at price per session as a letter profile: each time segment gets a letter that appears at every price reached during that segment. Wide spots are prices where the market lingered for a long time. The POC, the Value Area, the Initial Balance (the range of the session's first hour), and Single Prints (prices touched only once, which are often revisited) are marked.

TPO is calculated from candles alone and needs no trades. It does need an interval of up to 1 hour, though. On longer intervals, the note “TPO / Market Profile needs an interval of 1h or less” appears in the menu and at the top of the chart. TPO is also available as a chart type.

Volume Profile (VPVR)

The volume per price level across the currently visible range, as bars along the edge. Marked are the Point of Control (POC, most traded price) and VAH and VAL, the upper and lower bounds of the Value Area. Because the profile depends on the visible range, the levels move as you scroll and zoom.

Note. On the Pro plan, the profile is calculated from individual trades. On the other plans, and where no trades are available, it is an approximation from the candles, with each candle's volume distributed across its range.

Session Volume Profile

A volume profile per session with POC and Value Area. A session is one day for candles up to 1 hour, one week (starting Monday) up to 4 hours, and one month above that. This lets you compare where trading took place in consecutive sessions and whether value is migrating.

SettingDefaultRange

The same applies to trades and the approximation as for the VPVR. More on VPVR, Session Volume Profile, and TPO: Volume profile and TPO.

Liquidation heatmap (Plus)

An estimate of where leveraged positions would be liquidated. For each candle, the model assumes that the rise in open interest and part of the volume are new positions, spreads them across typical leverage from 5x to 100x, and calculates their liquidation prices. It splits longs and shorts by the share of aggressive buys. The levels accumulate until a candle trades through them, and then they disappear. The brighter the color (from dark teal through turquoise to yellow), the more positions sit there.

SettingDefault

Warning. This is a model, not reported orders. That's why the legend says “Liquidation heatmap · estimated”.

The liquidation heatmap is available for symbols with derivatives. More on open interest: Open interest, funding, and liquidations.

Hyperliquid stop/TP map (Pro)

Shows, for the largest accounts on Hyperliquid, where their stop-loss orders (red), take-profit orders (turquoise), and liquidation prices (yellow) sit, as stacked bars per price level from the right edge. The four largest levels carry their amount, and at the top is “HYPERLIQUID” with the number of positions. Large stop clusters are prices where a move can accelerate.

The map is a snapshot of the largest accounts. Only for crypto symbols with a Hyperliquid market.

mantacharts: Coinbase Premium Indicator (Bitcoin only)

The percentage premium of Bitcoin on a US exchange over the broad market. A premium is considered a sign of demand from the US, a discount a sign of selling pressure from there. It works best as confirmation: a breakout with a growing premium has an identifiable group of buyers behind it.

Note. The curve is an approximation with one value per day.
