Gestures and drawing

Panning, zooming, crosshair and context menu with your fingers, and how to draw on your phone.

On your phone, you control the chart with your fingers. The most important rule: one finger moves, one held finger measures, two held fingers open the menu.

Crosshair

Place a finger on the chart and hold it still for a moment. The crosshair appears, and the legend at the top left shows the open, high, low and close of the candle under your finger. As long as you keep your finger on the screen, the crosshair follows it without the chart moving. When you lift your finger, the legend shows the last candle again.

If you move your finger right after touching down, you pan the chart instead.

Zoom

With two fingers on the chart you zoom in time: apart shows fewer candles, together more. The candle between your fingers stays under them. If you put the two fingers on the price axis at the right edge, you change the price scale instead, using the vertical distance between your fingers.

Context menu

Hold two fingers still on the chart. The context menu opens at the spot between your fingers, with the price and candle there, just like a right-click on a computer. On the price axis, the price axis menu opens. After that, your fingers do nothing more until you lift both.

Note. A single long press no longer opens a context menu; it shows the crosshair.

Drawing on your phone

At the bottom left of the chart is a round pen. When a drawing tool is selected, it has a colored background.

  1. Tap the pen. In its place, the drawing toolbar appears at the bottom edge of the chart. It sits over the time axis.
  2. Choose a tool group. Each button shows the last used tool of its group, and a tap selects it. Buttons with more tools have a small triangle in the corner.
  3. Tap the already selected group again to see all tools of that group in a sheet.
  4. All on the far right opens a sheet with all tool groups at once.
  5. Draw: tap the points on the chart one after another, or drag with your finger from point to point.
  6. The X on the far left closes the drawing toolbar again.

On a computer, you finish tools with an open number of points, such as paths, with a double-click or Enter. On a phone, Done and Cancel appear at the bottom center for this. Done works as soon as at least two points are set.

A tap on Remove objects always opens a sheet where you choose what to remove.

With a finger, you hit existing drawings more easily than with a mouse: the hit area is larger, and the handles are drawn larger. If you add a second finger while moving a drawing, the move is undone, and the two fingers zoom or open the menu. This doesn't apply while you're placing the points of a new tool.

Note. The drawing toolbar on a phone doesn't have Sync drawings or the favorites bar. You set both on a computer, and they then apply on your phone too.

Themes on your phone

Pixel and Christmas work on a phone too. With Christmas, less snow falls, the string of lights has fewer bulbs, and the snow piles only freeze the screen after a deliberately long press, not on an accidental tap. More on this under Themes.
