ChartChart overview
Chart overview
What the chart shows and where to set it up.
The chart is the center of the terminal. It shows the chosen symbol as candles or in one of 21 other chart types, along with indicators on the price and in their own panes below it, your drawings, alert lines and compared symbols.
What you see on the chart
- Legend at the top left: name and interval, plus O, H, L, C and the change of the candle under the crosshair. Without a crosshair, the last candle applies. What you see of this is set in the chart settings under Status line.
- Price axis on the right with the last price as a line and label and, below that, the countdown to candle close.
- Time axis at the bottom. Changes of day, month and year are highlighted; a seconds chart shows times with seconds.
- Indicator panes below the price, for example open interest or CVD, each with its own axis.
- Alert lines with a bell: dragging a line moves the alert; a click on the bell opens it. More under Alerts.
Some room stays free to the right of the last candle so you can see where the price is moving.
Exchange aggregation
You set which exchanges the chart combines in the top bar under Exchange aggregation; the selection also applies to the heatmap, order book and trade tape. See Order flow.
Live and paused
Crypto charts run live. You can pause the live data through the super search (CtrlK, “Pause live data”), and resume it there with “Resume live data”. There is no live data for stocks, forex, commodities, macro series and ratios.
Chart settings
Right-click the chart → Settings… or the super search → Chart settings. The dialog has six tabs:
| Tab | Settings |
|---|---|
| Symbol | candle body, colors for Up and Down, wick, border |
| Status line | what the legend and the headers of the indicator panes show: for the symbol name, data source, OHLC values and change, for indicators names, values and sources; everything on by default. Under Appearance, the legend's indicators appear as a List below one another (the default) or as Color dots side by side, see The legend at the top left |
| Scales | scale mode (Normal, Percent, Indexed, Logarithmic), invert scale, price labels, last price as a line and as a label, countdown to candle close, high/low labels, alert labels and alert lines; under Controls, whether the scale adapts while scrolling, and the zoom (Smooth or Classic, see Scale and view) |
| Canvas | background, grid (Off, Vertical, Horizontal, Both), grid opacity 2 to 20%, crosshair (Dashed, Solid, Dotted), watermark |
| Theme | color theme and appearance, see Account & settings |
| Alerts | all alerts on this symbol, see Alerts |
You see changes on the chart right away. OK keeps them, Cancel restores the state from when you opened the dialog, Restore defaults sets Symbol, Status line, Scales and Canvas back to their defaults. You can drag the dialog by its header. The zoom applies to all charts of your account, also in other layouts.
By default, the grid, high/low labels and watermark are off, and the countdown is on.
