GlossaryUSDT.D Divergence

USDT.D Divergence

The study compares the symbol's price change with the change in USDT's share of the total crypto market. Positive values mean the price is doing better than the move in USDT's share would suggest, typically because it is rising while the share of waiting stablecoins shrinks. Both reflect the same risk appetite.

How to read it

RangeRating
from +1.0Clear outperformance
+0.5 to +1.0Slight outperformance
−0.5 to +0.5Neutral
−1.0 to −0.5Slight underperformance
below −1.0Clear underperformance

Above zero the curve is green, below it red, each in four strengths with steps at 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5. Reference lines sit at ±0.5, ±1.0 and ±1.5, and the zero line is drawn bold. Above +1.0 and below −1.0 the background is lightly tinted.

  • Persistently above zero: Over the last 14 candles, price and market have gained on average without capital fleeing into USDT. That is risk appetite.
  • Persistently below zero: The price is falling and USDT's share is rising. Capital is parking in stablecoins.
  • Crossing the zero line: The average of the last 14 spreads has changed sign. Because of the smoothing, this comes a few candles after the actual turn.
Note Because the total market enters both terms, the study is mainly a smoothed momentum of symbol and market. It doesn't predict; it summarizes what has happened over the last 14 candles.

Good to know

  • Other stablecoins: If USDC or other stablecoins gain share, USDT's share falls without capital having left the stablecoin space.
