mantacharts studies

The studies mantacharts built from price and volume, from ATH Drawdown and the 4-year cycle through Rainbow and Z-Score to the Trendfinder.

mantacharts developed these studies itself or rebuilt them. They are calculated from price and volume alone, which is why they are in the Indicators category, sorted into four groups: Cycle & valuation, Models over the price, Levels & profiles, and Trend & signal. Studies that need macro or on-chain data are under Macro studies and On-chain.

A few things apply to all of them:

  • Bitcoin models: Studies marked “Bitcoin only” are calibrated to Bitcoin's history. On other symbols, the menu shows “no data” with the note “Calibrated to Bitcoin; not meaningful for other symbols.”
  • Interval: Most studies are intended for daily and weekly charts. Each study says under “Intended for” on which intervals it can be read meaningfully. No interval is blocked.
  • History: Many values need a long price series. If you scroll far back, the chart loads older candles and the study keeps calculating.
  • Style: Every study has the Study colors toggle and a Color in its Style tab.

Cycle & valuation

mantacharts ATH Drawdown

The percentage distance of the closing price from the running all-time high. The high from before the loaded range counts too, so the curve is also correct on a short chart.

ZoneRange
Near ATH0 to −10%
Correction−10 to −30%
Bear market−30 to −60%
Capitulationbelow −60%

How to read it: What matters is how long the price stays in a zone, not whether it touches it. A single daily close below −60% is not yet a cycle low; several months below it always have been so far. On the upside, the curve is capped at zero and says nothing about how overheated a high is. Intended for 1h to 1W. No settings.

mantacharts: Bear Market Drawdown

Like the ATH Drawdown, but measured against the highest high ever reached rather than the highest close. A wick that was never confirmed counts here. The difference between the two curves shows the size of the last false breakout. Same four zones, intended for 1D to 1W.

Asset YoY % Change

The change from the level one year earlier. The comparison point moves along with every candle, so you can see whether growth is accelerating or merely reflecting a weak prior year.

Zones: Strong growth (above +50%), Growth (0 to +50%), Decline (−50 to 0%), Severe decline (below −50%). Setting: Comparison window (days), default 365, 30 to 1095. Intended for 1D to 1W.

mantacharts: Volatility Index

The ATR as a percentage of the price, measured against the symbol's own normal volatility instead of fixed thresholds. A 4% daily move is an exceptional event for a stock and a quiet day for a young coin.

Zones: Low (below baseline), Normal, Elevated (2× baseline), Extreme (3× baseline and up).

SettingDefault
ATR length (Calculation tab)14
Smoothing21
Baseline window in days (Adaptive thresholds tab)365
“High” factor2
“Extreme” factor3

mantacharts: 4-year cycle (Bitcoin only)

Counts the days since the last Bitcoin halving. The pane highlights the two ranges in which previous cycles found their high (days 367 to 548) and their low (days 777 to 924). On the price, the same windows are shaded as time bands, and a ring marks each halving. The halvings are the times of blocks 210,000, 420,000, 630,000, and 840,000; the next one is projected according to the protocol.

PhaseDays after the halving
Build-up0 to 366
Top window367 to 548
Down phase549 to 776
Bottom window777 to 924
Lead-upfrom 925

How to read it: The top window is not a prediction but the range in which every high has fallen so far. Four highs and three lows are few observations; the windows are their tightest envelope, not a probability range. Intended for 1D to 1W. No settings.

mantacharts: CME Gaps (spot approximation, Bitcoin only)

Bitcoin trades around the clock; the CME future doesn't. What happens over the weekend leaves a gap at the reopen, and experience shows the market often returns to it. The curve shows the distance to the nearest open gap: positive when it is above the price, negative when below. It ends when no gap is open.

Note. This study is an approximation: it measures the close of your chart symbol before the CME's trading break against the first price after it.
SettingDefault
Lookback (days)365
Minimum gap size (%)1
Minimum gap size ($)50

An open gap is not a price target but an area the market often revisits, with no expiry date. The curve is most useful when it shows small values. Intended for 1h to 1D.

mantacharts: Bitcoin Growth Delta (Bitcoin only)

The growth rate of the closing price minus the growth rate of the cumulative VWAP since the start of the series, smoothed over one year. Above zero, the price is rising on fresh volume; below zero, it is falling behind its volume-weighted average. A slow cycle indicator: crossings of the zero line say more than the level itself. Intended for 1D to 1W. No settings.

mantacharts: Seasonality Indicator

Overlays the paths of recent years on the current year. Each line starts at zero on January 1 and shows the return since then. That puts today's level next to what the symbol did on this day in previous years. Years whose start isn't in the loaded range are left out. Setting: Years compared, default 5, 1 to 15. Intended for 1D to 1W.

mantacharts Short-Term Risk Score

A weighted risk value between 0 and 1 built from ten components: risk-adjusted return, volatility per unit of volume, distance from trend, microstructure, price acceleration, and volume spikes. Each component is normalized to its range over the last 42 candles. In bull phases, the score is raised by 20%. Three components carry the names MVRV, SOPR, and SSR but are derived purely from price and volume, which is why they are called “Proxy”.

Zones: Very low (below 0.25), Low (0.25 to 0.50), Medium (0.50 to 0.75), High (0.75 and up). Settings: Length 21, Smoothing 5. Intended for 4h to 1W.

mantacharts: Ultimate BTC Top/Bottom (Bitcoin only)

Eight cycle modules vote on highs and lows: Pi Cycle, 200-week regime, Mayer Multiple, RSI across multiple timeframes, ATR volatility, volume climax, weekly Bollinger, and logarithmic regression bands. The line shows top votes minus bottom votes. A signal only appears once a majority of the modules agree, the 200-week regime points the same way, and the cooldown has expired.

Zones: Top confirmed, Top pressure, Neutral, Bottom pressure, Bottom confirmed.

SettingDefault
Cooldown in candles (Logic tab)96
RSI length (MTF RSI tab)14
RSI overbought70
RSI oversold30

Intended for 1D to 1W.

Models over the price

mantacharts: Bitcoin Rainbow Indicator (Bitcoin only)

The logarithmic regression of the well-known Rainbow chart: two fixed straight lines over the age of the network span a band divided into eight zones. The zones lie directly over the candles and run two years past the last candle; the chart leaves room for this on the right.

Hover over the chart: the legend shows the price's zone with its dollar bounds, and below it a card with all eight zones and their bounds on that date, including in the projection. From bottom to top, the zones are called “Basically a fire sale”, “Buy!”, “Accumulate”, “Still cheap”, “HODL!”, “Is this a bubble?”, “FOMO intensifies”, and “Sell. Seriously, sell!”. If the price is outside them, the legend reports “Above the top band” or “Below the rainbow”.

How to read it: Historically, the lower zones were accumulation ranges and the upper ones distribution ranges. The model helps less with timing than with position size. It assumes that past growth continues, and with each cycle the price has stayed in lower bands. Intended for 1D to 1W. No settings other than style.

mantacharts: Z-Score Probability Waves

The distance of the closing price from its mean, measured in standard deviations. Bands from ±1σ to ±5σ lie on the price around the 20-period average (dashed). They breathe with volatility: the same move is a 3σ event in a quiet market and barely a deviation in a hectic one. Rings mark extremes.

Zones: At the mean (up to 1σ), Stretched (1 to 2σ), Overextended (2 to 3σ), Extreme (3σ and up).

SettingDefault
Calculation modeShort term (or Long term)
Short-term length20
Long-term length200

The calculation mode and lengths determine the extreme rings; the bands on the price are always calculated over 20 periods.

How to read them: Extremes show exhaustion on either side, not direction. Price returns are not normally distributed; 4σ and 5σ moves occur far more often in the crypto market than statistics would suggest. Combine the study with a read on the trend. Intended for 1h to 1W.

Levels & profiles

mantacharts: Local Volume Profile

Distributes the volume of recent candles across price levels and draws three lines over the price: the Point of Control (most traded price) and the bounds of the Value Area, in which 70% of the volume was traded. Inside the Value Area, the market is in agreement; outside it, moves often run faster through thin volume.

SettingDefaultRange
Lookback (candles)110010 to 5000
Price levels20010 to 490
Value Area (%)705 to 95

The profile is calculated from candle volume, not from individual trades. For a profile from actual trades, use the Volume Profile (VPVR) under Order flow. Intended for 1h to 1W.

mantacharts: Multi-Timeframe Opens

The opening prices of the day, week, month, and year as lines across the entire history. Where the price stands relative to these four levels quickly shows who is ahead on which timeframe. Because each level runs along with the chart, you also see how often it has held. No settings other than style. Intended for 1h to 1W.

mantacharts: VWAP

A rolling VWAP over the last 200 periods on the typical price. Unlike the session VWAP among the classics, there is no restart: the line shows the cost basis of the average buyer of those 200 periods. Above it, that buyer is in profit; below it, at a loss, and moves often stall at the line. Setting: Window (candles), default 200, 1 to 2000. Intended for 1h to 1W.

Trend & signal

mantacharts: Trendfinder

A fusion of two trend measurements, normalized to −1 to +1. The first filters the price with two high-pass filters of different scales and measures their difference in ATR units. The second rates six trend features (momentum, volatility, directional strength, oscillation, speed, Supertrend) with weights that adapt candle by candle. A zero crossing is the trend change, and the sign is the direction.

Zones: Strong uptrend (+0.75 and up), Uptrend (+0.25 to +0.75), Neutral (−0.25 to +0.25), Downtrend (−0.75 to −0.25), Strong downtrend (below −0.75).

Setting (Wavelet tab)Default
Short scale1
Long scale23
Signal smoothing8
ATR length8

How to read it: As a filter, not a trigger. Read the sign first, then take only signals in that direction. Values around zero mean the two measurements contradict each other. The curve is smoothed several times, so it turns after the turning point, and it gives false signals in sideways phases. Intended for 4h to 1W.

mantacharts: Trendfinder Overlay

Despite the name, it has its own pane: a composite signal from a high-pass filter, RSI momentum, and the slope of a regression over 35 candles, normalized to −1 to +1 and smoothed. Above zero is up, below is down, and the distance from zero is the strength. It is calculated on your chart's symbol.

Zones: Up, strong (+0.30 and up); Up, weak (0 to +0.30); Down, weak (−0.30 to 0); Down, strong (below −0.30).

SettingDefault
Short scale12
Long scale23
Smoothing8
Normalization window600

Intended for 1h to 1D.
