ChartReplay

Replay

Replay the market candle by candle from a starting point, with speeds, jump targets such as the London or New York open, and auto-pause.

With Replay, you play the chart back from a point in the past as if it were live: everything to the right of the starting point is hidden, and you reveal it candle by candle. That way you practice decisions without knowing the future.

Note. Replay is part of Plus. Without Plus, the terminal shows which plan includes it when you click.

Start Replay

  1. Click Replay in the top bar. The button stays highlighted while Replay is running.
  2. At the bottom of the chart it says “Click in the chart to choose the starting point”. When you move over the chart, everything to the right of the mouse pointer is dimmed.
  3. Click the candle you want to replay from. A click to the right of the last candle picks the last one.

At least five candles always stay visible before the starting point. Cancel ends the selection.

The Replay bar

Once the starting point is set, the bar at the bottom of the chart shows, from left to right:

ElementWhat it does
Choose a new starting pointback to choosing the starting point
Step back (Shift←)one candle back
Play / Pauseplays candle by candle or stops
Step forward (Shift→)one candle forward
Jump button (for example “New York”)jumps to the last chosen target (ShiftJ)
Arrow next to itopens Jump to
Speed0.5×, 1×, 3× or 10×; each click takes the next one
Datetime of the last visible candle in your time zone
Endends Replay and shows everything again

At 1×, playback reveals a candle about every 0.65 seconds, at 10× correspondingly faster. It stops at the last candle. If the replay time moves out of the visible area, the chart follows it.

Jump to

The arrow next to the jump button opens Jump to with five targets:

TargetWhen
Asia openMonday to Friday, 00:00 UTC
London openMonday to Friday, 08:00 London time
New York openMonday to Friday, 09:30 New York time
Daily opendaily, 00:00 UTC
Weekly openMondays, 00:00 UTC

Each row shows when the target falls in your time zone (for example “Mon–Fri 15:30” for New York as seen from Berlin) and, on the right, the next date. Daylight saving time is taken into account. A jump sets the replay time directly before the candle with the open, so playback reveals it next. If “—” is shown there, the data doesn't reach the next date and the row is locked.

Below that:

  • AUTO-PAUSE AFTER OPEN: Off, 15 min, 30 min (default), 1 h or 4 h. After a jump, playback stops that long after the open and reports, for example, “Auto-pause · 30 min after the open”.
  • Play after jump: starts playback right after the jump (on by default).

The jump button and ShiftJ always use the last chosen target, initially New York open.

Note. The three session opens (Asia, London, New York) need candles shorter than a day. On daily candles and longer they are locked, and the row then says “Up to the 4H interval only”. Daily and weekly open always work.

What happens in Replay

  • Everything after the replay time is hidden: candles, indicators and indicator panes end at the last revealed candle.
  • Changing the interval works: the replay clock stands still. On the new interval, the chart shows the last candle that had already closed by then, so no longer candle gives away its future.
  • Multi-chart: all charts in the grid end at the same time, each on its own interval.
  • Countdown: the countdown to candle close is off in Replay.
  • Snapshot: a snapshot in Replay carries the time of the last visible candle, not the current time.
  • Live data keeps running: when you end Replay, the chart is up to date right away.

End Replay

  • End in the Replay bar,
  • a second click on Replay in the top bar,
  • Esc (if Jump to is open, the first Esc only closes that menu),
  • opening another symbol: Replay always belongs to the chart it was started on.

Replay is a session and is not saved in the workspace.
