GlossaryTrade bubbles

Trade bubbles

Trade bubbles show large market orders directly on the chart: as a circle at their price and in the candle in which they were traded. The larger the circle, the larger the trade, buys in cyan, sells in red. This shows you at a glance where someone entered the market with size.

How to read it

  • A series of large buys that does not move the price further often means that a seller is pushing back with limit orders. The order book heatmap shows whether there is a wall there.
  • Large sells at a low, followed by the price turning, point to capitulation or to absorption by buyers.
  • Hover over a circle and the legend shows side, amount and price.

Limitations

  • The circle size is relative to the largest visible trade. If you zoom out and a larger one comes into view, all the others get smaller.
  • An order executed across several milliseconds or exchanges appears as several circles; each of them can then stay below the minimum size.
  • Trade bubbles are only available for cryptocurrencies.
