HelpFrequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions that come up most often in the terminal, from empty panes to alerts, workspaces, and plans.

Here you'll find short answers to the most common questions. Terms from the terminal are explained in the glossary.

Data and display

Why is a pane or widget empty?

The terminal never shows sample data. If something is missing, the empty spot almost always states the reason. The most common ones:

  • The symbol doesn't have this data. Order book, trades, liquidations, CVD, and footprint are available only for crypto. For stocks, indices, forex, and commodities, you then see, for example, No order book for SPY. Open interest and funding are available only for coins with perpetuals, options only for BTC and ETH.
  • The interval doesn't fit. TPO / Market Profile needs an interval of 1h or less. Seconds candles aren't available for every coin.
  • Your exchange selection doesn't include the market. The order book widget then shows No data for this selection. In the top bar, open Exchange aggregation and add an exchange that lists the coin.
  • The live data is paused. Open the super search (CtrlK) and choose “Resume live data” to get it running again.
  • The feature belongs to a different plan. Locked entries carry a Plus or Pro badge. A click shows what the plan includes.

In the indicators menu, entries that can't draw anything for the current symbol stay visible. Instead of “+ Add”, they show “no data”, and the tooltip gives the reason.

Tip. If the footprint shows only candles, the chart is zoomed out too far. Zoom in with the mouse wheel until the price levels appear.

Why is part of the chart shaded gray?

Candles shaded gray mean there is no data for that stretch. The terminal deliberately doesn't fill in such spots.

Why does the price differ from my exchange's?

The price on the chart is the price of a single exchange from your selection, not an average across all of them. Perp and spot, USDT and USD are often a few dollars apart. Volume, on the other hand, is summed across all exchanges in your selection. You decide which exchanges are included in Exchange aggregation.

How do I pause the live data?

Open the super search (CtrlK) and choose “Pause live data”. The tape, order book, liquidations, and current candle then stand still. In the same place, you then find “Resume live data”, which starts them again. Trades from during the pause aren't added afterward. After you reload the page, the live data runs again.

View and workspace

How do I reset the view?

That depends on what you want to reset:

  • Chart range: AltR or right-click the chart → Reset chart view. This shows the newest candles again, resets the pane heights, and turns on automatic scaling. A double-click on the time axis brings back only the range.
  • Price scale: Right-click the price axis → Reset price scale. The scale is then set to Normal, not inverted, with automatic scaling. A double-click on the price axis only fits the scale back to the candles.
  • Chart settings: Right-click the chart → Settings… → Restore defaults.
  • One indicator: Gear in the legend → Restore defaults. This only affects the selected entry.
  • Top bar: Right-click the bar → Restore defaults.
  • The whole terminal: Open the command search with CtrlK (Mac: CmdK) and choose Reset terminal to defaults.
Warning. “Reset terminal to defaults” doesn't ask for confirmation. It returns the chart, indicators, heatmap, and widgets to their initial state, removes all drawings on all symbols, and resets the colors under Appearance. Alerts, saved workspaces, layouts, scripts, the journal, and the paper account remain. If you triggered it by accident, click “Undo” in the message at the bottom or press CtrlZ.

How do I get my workspace back?

The terminal saves your current desk automatically, shortly after every change. The next time you open it, it's back. If something has gone wrong, you have these options:

  1. UndoCtrlZ (Mac: CmdZ) or the arrow in the top bar. Up to 80 steps, even if you opened a layout in between. After you reload the page, this history is empty.
  2. Your own layoutsCtrlS (Mac: CmdS) or Save in the top bar saves to the open layout, otherwise as a new layout. RECENTLY USED in the layout menu lists your latest layouts, and Open layout… shows all of them. If Autosave is on in the layout menu, the terminal saves changes to the open layout on its own. If you switch layouts, the terminal first saves your changes to the previous one.
  3. Earlier workspacesThe nine workspace slots no longer exist. Under My layouts, you can transfer them once with Add as layouts into the “Workspaces” folder. Import reads in an old export file.

A workspace contains the chart, drawings, indicators, heatmap, and widgets. The color theme and alerts aren't part of it.

Where are my settings saved?

When you're signed in, your data lives in your account and follows you to every device: workspaces and the automatically saved desk, layouts, scripts, alerts, the journal, the paper account, watchlists, your MantaAI chats, and settings such as the color theme, keyboard shortcuts, and the top bar. A copy also stays in your browser.

These stay only in the browser:

  • your API key for MantaAI. It is never sent to mantacharts.
  • the colors and crosshair under Settings → My information → Appearance
  • the draft in the code editor
  • the permission for push notifications, which applies per device

If you aren't signed in, everything stays in this browser only. You can carry over workspaces, layouts, scripts, the journal, and the paper account as soon as you sign in.

Note. Alerts you created without signing in are not carried over to your account when you sign in. Create them again while signed in.

If you have saved the same workspace on another device in the meantime, the terminal doesn't overwrite it. It then reports: Workspace 2 was saved on another device in the meantime – your version stays in this browser.

Alerts

Why isn't my alert triggering?

Go through these points in order:

  1. Is the alert on? The list shows ON or OFF. An alert with the Once trigger turns itself off after it first fires. You can see whether it has fired in the alerts widget under History.
  2. Has it expired? With an expiry of 1 day, 1 week, or 1 month, it turns off after that, and the terminal reports Alert expired.
  3. Is the condition right? “Crosses” only fires when the value actually crosses the level. If the price is already above it when you create the alert, use “Greater than” or “Less than”. “Every time” fires at most once per minute.
  4. Are you signed in? Without signing in, alerts live only in this browser and fire only while the terminal is open, as a message in the terminal and with sound. When you're signed in, mantacharts checks them even without an open terminal and delivers them through your channels.
  5. Is the channel connected? You connect Discord, Telegram, and email under Settings → Connections. For push, the browser asks for permission when you turn it on. If it says notifications are blocked, allow them in your browser's site settings. Send test in the alert dialog checks delivery.
  6. Is the source available for the symbol? CVD, volume delta, and liquidations only work for crypto, open interest and funding only for crypto perpetuals. Sources that don't fit are grayed out in the dialog.

You can have 5 alerts active at the same time on Free, 50 on Plus, and 300 on Pro; you can attach up to 5 further conditions to an alert. Further conditions (alert builder) and script alerts belong to the Plus plan; price alerts are included in every plan.

Account and plan

Which plan do I need?

Free lets you get to know the terminal: all chart types and intervals, indicators and drawing tools, ratio and spread, CVD, volume delta, Volume Profile, VWAP, 5 price alerts, the code editor with backtest, all widgets, paper trading, the journal, and the first lesson of every Academy course.

PlanAlso included
Plusall Academy courses, order book and liquidation heatmaps, on-chain indicators, mantacharts studies, replay, up to 4 charts per layout, script alerts, alert builder, MantaAI, market scanner as a heatmap, real-time news, connect Hyperliquid, widgets in their own window, theme editor, snapshot without watermark, 9 workspaces, 50 active alerts
Proeverything in Plus, plus all analyses in full and on the chart, footprint, TPO / Market Profile, GEX profile, Hyperliquid stop/TP map, up to 16 charts per layout, backtest optimization, “Invite only” sharing, 300 active alerts, early access to new features

Plus costs €49 per month, or €39.20 per month with an annual subscription; Pro costs €99 per month, or €79.20 per month with an annual subscription. You book directly in the terminal via Upgrade to Pro at the top right, by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, SEPA direct debit, or one of the other payment methods offered. Exactly how it works is described under Plans.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Via Cancel contracts here, even without signing in, or under Settings → Subscriptions. Without signing in, you confirm the cancellation through a link sent to your account’s address. The confirmation arrives immediately by email, and your plan continues until the end of the paid period.

Where do I see my plan?

In the profile menu (your avatar in the header), it appears below your name, for example “Pro member”. For more detail, see Settings → Subscriptions: there you'll find your plan, the next payment, and your payment method, plus a comparison of all features.

Do I need my own access for MantaAI?

Yes. MantaAI runs on your own API key with an AI provider, and your provider bills the costs. Choose Claude or GPT at the top right of MantaAI and paste your key. The key is stored only in your browser. The steps are described in MantaAI. MantaAI belongs to the Plus plan.

Does the terminal work on a phone?

Yes. If the terminal is narrower than 760 pixels, it switches to a phone view with the tabs Watchlist, Chart, Markets, Ideas, and Menu at the bottom. Menus open from the bottom there. A long press with one finger shows the crosshair, and holding two fingers still on the chart opens the menu, for example for “Alert at”. Keyboard shortcuts and widgets in their own window aren't available there.

Where can I ask questions or report bugs?

Under Support in the left sidebar (or Settings → Support Center → Contact). There you choose a category, enter a title and description, and attach up to four images; you can paste a screenshot directly with Ctrl+V. Create support ticket opens your own ticket channel on our Discord server, which only you and the team can see. The team replies to you there, and you can add more information or images. Once everything is settled, close the ticket with Close ticket and delete the channel with Delete channel. For this you need to be a member of our Discord server; otherwise, the window offers you the option to join. You can create a new ticket every 10 minutes, up to three in 24 hours, with up to two open at the same time. The window shows you when the next one is possible; just add anything further to your open ticket. What has changed in the terminal is listed under Release notes in the profile menu.
